Our Approach

At Northground, therapy is grounded in evidence-based approaches.

We provide whole-person therapy that honours the connection between body, and mind.

We value collaboration, compassion, and clarity, and our therapeutic style is humanistic, mindbody-oriented, and trauma-informed.

Our approach meets you where you are and focuses on helping you to:

  • Calm your nervous system and restore presence

  • Navigate life’s challenges without adding to your load

  • Reconnect with your own wisdom and strengths

  • Move toward what truly matters, grounded and supported

How we can help.

We know how exhausting and lonely it can feel to live with chronic illness, burnout, or late-identified neurodivergence. The advice we’re often given - lower your stress, sleep more, exercise, eat better, delegate at home and work, meditate, use planners - can feel impossible when you’re already cooked. The mere thought of self-care, nauseating.

We get it. Your nervous system gets it, too. Even the thought of taking a small step can set off alarm bells in your body.

This is why our approach is different.

We won’t add more to your already full load.

  • we won’t ask unrealistic things of you such as to leave your job or to take the annual leave you are saving up for school holidays.

  • we won’t give you ‘homework’ between sessions.

  • we won’t even tell you to stop doom-scrolling if that’s keeping you afloat.

We won’t tell you to do anything at all.

Instead, we’ll meet you exactly where you are. We’ll listen deeply to what you say and what you can’t yet put into words. We’ll help you calm your nervous system in ways that are realistic, unique, and tailored to you using somatic practices, sensory regulation, “spoon theory” thinking, curiosity, and even play.

We’ll draw on your special interests, hyperfixations, and curiosities to guide us. Once you feel safe, calm, and truly informed about your brain and body, then—and only then—we’ll explore together: meaning-making, reflection, letting go of what no longer works, and moving toward what matters.

Ground first, then move north.
